I’m watching a curling event on TV. Early in the game, one of the competitors threw three take-out shots on her first three shots of the game. Two of them were misses — on a par with something I might do. One of the commentators came up with a magnificent piece of mathematical insight: it was observed that the competitor had only suceeded at fifty per cent of her first three shots.
Clearly at commentator school they don’t teach them about integer arithmetic.
