On the weekend we were in the nation’s capital to annoy relatives and meet a puppy. On Sunday we were driving from one relative to the puppy and we had (in broad strokes) two routes to choose from. Emily-the-GPS recommended one (It’s faster!) but we ignored her (RECALCULATING! You IDIOT!) and drove through the downtown instead — it’s slower but the scenery is better. As we drove past Parliament Hill there was someone watering the grass.
In the pouring rain.
I don’t want to use this as a metaphor to comment on the legendary efficiency of the Canadian federal government, but it seems inevitable that someone will.
