Beaming

I’ve mentioned before that my initial training (Well, university isn’t exactly ‘initial’ but whatever. Perhaps I should say ‘my first educational experience as an adult — or at least a nominal adult’ but that’s kind of long-winded. It doesn’t flow. It doesn’t sing. I think I’ll stick with ‘initial’ despite its obvious inaccuracy.) was in physics. In Physics 105 (good course, long gone) the long-suffering Dr. B managed — despite my best efforts — to […]

So today being Friday, we went out to dinner with a rather larger group than usual (not that that’s remotely relevant). I ordered the Weisswurst. Then she (that would be the waitress) asked “Soup or salad?”  I decided on the soup. Recently (‘Docking‘) I made the comment that I once interrupted email service for twenty thousand people because I wore the wrong shorts. (This was Yet Another example of me leaving out context. Just before they boarded their vehicle, Seven of Nine gave me a big hug, said she’d miss me and then added “Back off, Rose!” There was a distant thunder of footsteps and Underpants Boy appeared. “Back off, Rose!” Matching […]

One of the flaws of the stuff I’ve written here (One of them — I have a fairly long list. If you’ve read one or two posts I’m sure you have your own.) is that I haven’t always included, umm, ‘context’.  In that spirit, I include context-free quotes from two of the individuals at our recent cottage ‘outing’. (Sort of described in the five posts published on July 21.) “Look! This is my noodly appendage!” […]
